Nirali Parekh Soni, an Assistant Professor at Anant National University, brings over a decade of combined experience in academia and the design industry. Her work explores the intersection of design education, human behaviour and spatial storytelling. She is particularly interested in understanding how people interact with their environments and how narratives embedded within spaces shape human experiences. Through her design and artistic explorations, Nirali examines the role of colour and culture and their profound influence on users and the spaces they inhabit, seeking insights that contribute to more holistic and meaningful design solutions.
At Anant, Nirali is dedicated to developing innovative teaching approaches and applying design thinking methodologies to enhance students’ learning experiences. She teaches courses in Foundational Design and Spatial Design while encouraging students to explore narratives, process, and experimentation as part of their design journey.
Nirali holds a postgraduate degree in Interior Design from Pacific University, Udaipur and a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Arvindbhai Patel Institute of Environmental Design. She continues to expand her knowledge through courses and research that contribute to the evolving field of design education.
Before joining Anant, Nirali taught at Swarnim Startup and Innovation University (formerly Venus Institute of Design and Technology). As part of her academic journey, she presented a paper titled ‘A Simple Complexity in a Smart City’ at Tel Aviv University after participating in a Smart Cities summer programme in 2020.
Beyond academia, Nirali actively explores artistic practices through colour, texture and cultural narratives, and her solo exhibitions have been widely appreciated in the city. She is also an emerging voice in design communication, writing articles that reflect on design education, craft traditions and creative practice. As a social media influencer and amateur author, she uses digital platforms to share ideas, inspire young designers and engage wider audiences in conversations about art, design and culture. She is equally passionate about travelling and drawing inspiration from diverse experiences.
