About Department

The Marketing & Communications function is responsible for building the university’s brand, driving admissions-led marketing, and strengthening institutional visibility and credibility.
PR will play a critical role in shaping external perception through high-quality media engagement, thought leadership, and narrative-driven storytelling. All PR efforts are anchored in the university’s positioning “Come, Create the New”, reinforcing its positioning as a leading design-focused institution.

Required Education Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field

PG in Communication / PR / Marketing will be an added advantage.

Years of Experience

Assistant Manager: 3 to 5 years

Manager: 5 to 7 years

Experience in a PR agency handling large education clients or working with a leading education brand.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

  • Build and manage relationships with journalists across education, business, and national media, with a clear focus on relevance and credibility over volume.
  • Drive media outreach in collaboration with the PR agency (or independently), ensuring all coverage aligns with the university’s positioning as a design-led institution.
  • Own day-to-day coordination with the PR agency, translating institutional priorities into clear, outcome-driven briefs and ensuring delivery against KPIs.
  • Work closely with leadership, faculty, and internal teams to identify, prioritise, and build stories that reflect the university’s core narrative and distinctiveness.
  • Build and sustain a structured, forward-looking pipeline of stories for continuous and strategic media engagement.
  • Drive thought leadership by positioning the Hon’ble Provost and Programme Heads as authoritative voices through authored articles, industry stories, and opinions/quotes across relevant platforms.
  • Lead PR strategy and execution for key announcements, partnerships, events, and institutional milestones, ensuring timely and impactful dissemination.
  • Ensure all communication is anchored in the positioning “Come, Create the New” and reflects the university’s focus on design, sustainability, and future-oriented learning.
  • Track, analyse, and report coverage with a focus on quality, positioning, and impact.
  • Identify and collaborate with mini-influencers and content creators engaging with design aspirants across key markets including Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Nashik to amplify brand narrative and drive consideration.
  • Identify and implement innovative approaches to PR, including leveraging new-age media formats, journalist platforms, and non-traditional storytelling opportunities.

Key Skills

  • Strong media relations capability with an existing network of high-quality and relevant journalist connections.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to produce sharp, narrative-driven communication (British English only).
  • Ability to translate institutional developments into clear, compelling, and media-relevant stories.
  • Strong understanding of how to build credibility through media, including thought leadership and leadership profiling.
  • Experience in managing PR agencies with a clear focus on outcomes, quality, and accountability.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Structured thinking with a clear understanding of brand narrative, positioning, and message consistency.
  • High attention to detail and uncompromising quality standards in all outputs.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, outcome-driven environment.
