About the Transdisciplinary Design, School of Design

Transdisciplinary Design is an innovative approach that bridges knowledge and methodologies from diverse disciplines to tackle complex, real-world challenges. In an increasingly interconnected world, this
methodology is vital for driving innovation and addressing critical global issues such as climate change, healthcare accessibility, and social equity. We champion diverse perspectives and holistic, systems-level problem-solving to co-create context-specific, sustainable solutions.

Required Education Qualification

Master’s degree in Design, Architecture, Social Innovation, Sustainability, Strategic Design, Systems Design, Design Research, Liberal Arts, or a related field from a recognised institution.

PhD or pursuing a PhD in a relevant field (preferable)

Years of Experience

Minimum 5 to 7 years of teaching, research, or professional practice experience

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

The faculty member will serve as both the academic leader and educator for the Transdisciplinary Design programme. The role combines teaching, mentorship, curriculum development, and programme leadership to help students create individualised learning pathways across design disciplines and integrate diverse knowledge into meaningful intellectual outcomes.

 

  • Conceive and teach studios, theory courses, workshops, seminars, and capstone projects within the Transdisciplinary Design programme.
  • Mentor and advise students in designing personalized academic pathways by selecting courses, studios, workshops, and electives across disciplines.
  • Lead the academic planning, delivery, quality, and continuous enhancement of the Transdisciplinary Design programme.
  • Foster collaboration among faculty across disciplines to create integrated learning experiences and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Guide students in synthesizing knowledge from multiple domains and developing impactful final-year projects.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation, pedagogical development, assessment frameworks, and programme review processes.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships with industry, communities, and institutions to facilitate live projects, internships, research, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Undertake research, scholarship, publications, and other knowledge-creation activities aligned with the University’s mission.
  • Support student recruitment, outreach, programme promotion, and other academic and administrative responsibilities as required.
  • Contribute to institutional initiatives that advance design-led innovation, sustainability, and transdisciplinary education.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the competent authority.
