About Communication Design Department

The Communication Design programme at Anant National University is part of a vibrant and rapidly growing design ecosystem that nurtures creativity, critical inquiry, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The department offers a dynamic studio culture where students and faculty engage in an open, intellectually stimulating, and practice-led learning environment. With a curriculum spanning graphic design, typography, photography, illustration, animation, filmmaking, interaction design, immersive media, and emerging technologies, the programme integrates design research, sustainability, systems thinking, and industry engagement. Required Education Qualification and Years of Experience

  • PhD degree (desirable), with first-class at Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in appropriate branch with experience of eight years in teaching, research and/ or industry at the level of Lecturer or equivalent grade, excluding the period spent on obtaining a research degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in teaching/ research/ industry.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

  • Teach undergraduate studio courses in one or more areas of Communication Design, including Graphic Design (Typography, Identity Design, Publication Design, Packaging Design, Information Design), New Media, Time-Based Media, and related areas of visual communication.
  • Develop and deliver project-based, studio-centred learning experiences that integrate design thinking, research, sustainability, and emerging communication practices.
  • Mentor student projects, industry collaborations, internships, and graduation projects, fostering creative inquiry and professional practice.
  • Contribute to curriculum development by aligning with industry standards and integrating contemporary design methodologies, digital technologies, and interdisciplinary perspectives.
  • Promote research, experimentation, and innovation in communication design through scholarly publications, exhibitions, competitions, and collaborative projects.
  • Engage with industry, community, and institutional partners to facilitate live projects and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to academic administration, assessment, accreditation, student mentoring, and departmental initiatives.
  • Conduct research, publish research findings in academic journals, and present at conferences to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
  • Facilitate opportunities for students to engage in real-world projects, internships, and collaborations with industry professionals.
  • Stay updated with advancements in the field and pursue professional certifications or memberships to enhance credibility and expertise.

Key Requirements and Skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more domains of Communication Design, with specialization in areas such as Graphic Design (Typography, Identity Design, Publication Design, Packaging Design, Information Design), New Media, or Time-Based Media.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Ability to integrate sustainability, interdisciplinary approaches, and emerging technologies into communication design education.
  • Ability to apply and teach communication design methodologies, including user-centred research, problem framing, visual communication strategies, concept development, ideation, prototyping, visualisation, and iterative design processes.
  • Functional proficiency in industry-standard software and digital tools.
  • Capability to conduct research in areas related to Communication Design.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey design concepts, provide constructive feedback to students, and collaborate with colleagues and industry partners.
