Required Education Qualification and Years of Experience

  • A Master’s degree in the relevant domain from a recognized university
  • Minimum 20 years of professional experience with relevant experience in the field

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

Anant National University invites applications from practising architects for the position of Practitioner-in-Residence for Spring 2027 (January – May 2027). This appointment is intended for a mid-career practitioner whose work engages substantively with the built environment at multiple scales – from buildings to the city – and who brings international, project-grounded design experience to Anant’s academic environment.

 

    The Practitioner in Residence will be responsible for:
     

  • Lead one undergraduate design studio across the semester, developing a studio brief in consultation with the SoA leadership.
  • Deliver two public lectures drawing on their own practice and research, open to the wider university community.
  • Participate as juror and critic in Capstone reviews and other semester-end evaluations, contributing a practitioner’s eye across year groups and disciplines.
  • Be available to students and faculty during the period of the residency for informal mentorship and critique.

Key Requirements and Skills

  • Works across the scales of architecture and urban planning/design, with a demonstrated body of built and policy work.
  • Has experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects, including public participation, client relations, and cross-institutional coordination.
  • Brings a rigorous spatial and policy sensibility alongside design capability.
  • Has engaged with academic or public contexts as a lecturer, juror, or critic.
  • Can teach and communicate effectively in English.
