About ASCA

The Anant School for Climate Action aims to be the hub for climate-related research and action in India. The department fosters innovative research in sustainable construction materials, green cement production, and other climate-resilient technologies.

Reporting to

Assistant Professor, Anant School for Climate Action

Required Education Qualification and Years of Experience

Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Construction Technology and Management

Minimum 3 years of research experience in sustainable construction, building performance evaluation, or life cycle assessment (including doctoral research).

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

  • Conduct a comprehensive literature and policy review of IGBC, ECBC, ISO LCA guidelines, and global Net Zero frameworks.
  • Design and implement case studies across different climate zones in India, including both certified and non-certified buildings.
  • Perform Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) using tools such as OpenLCA or SimaPro, analyzing embodied energy, operational carbon, water use, and waste metrics.
  • Develop an integrated evaluation framework that maps IGBC and ECBC parameters with LCA indicators for lifecycle-aligned building assessments.
  • Lead the design and development of an interactive dashboard (using Tableau/Streamlit/Power BI) to visualize sustainability metrics for students, practitioners, and policymakers.
  • Draft policy recommendations for embedding lifecycle-based performance tracking into building approvals and compliance systems.
  • Prepare academic outputs including journal papers, technical manuals, case study reports, and conference presentations.
  • Mentor students and assist in integrating the project outputs into educational curricula and outreach programs at Anant.

Key Skills

  • Experience in teaching, academic outreach, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14040/44 LCA standards.
  • Strong technical writing skills with a record of publications in sustainability or building performance.
  • Strong skills in data analysis (R, Excel, Tableau) and valuation of land and buildings.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and liaise with policymakers, practitioners, and educators.
